Writing excercise: "My dog" 28/11/18

On the 28th of November the subject was "my dog". To be honest, I love dogs, but I don't have one; instead I have two kids :)

This is what I came up with, within the 5 minutes we had:

"He sleeps on the floor in the corner of the room, I pick him up and put him on the bed. He loves this space, by the pillows, where he can sit or lie down completely.
Hi yellow ears are in contrast to his white body. His blue eyes are closed, or so I imagine.
Where's its twin? I wonder.
Maybe under the bed or under the desk? In the wardrobe, hiding away from me or my parents?
"Ah! there you are!"as I grab him from behind the door. I carefully put him on the bed, next to its brother. His blues ears look so funny; I love him so.
I leave the room with a smile.
When I come home that night, they are gone.
Both of them.
My parents had to give them away.
The doctor said so.
Even if I loved them so much it heart my heart. My little heart did not understand."

157 words.

So, from this first draft, I'm quite happy. It was hard to get started, and I guess I could have put a few more words in if I had started straight away. But never mind.

If I was to write this again, or even edit it this time, I might look at things differently. For example I might change some words to avoid repetition; I may add some description of the room; change the ending even or add the reason why the two dogs are gone.

Or maybe not.

I find it difficult to write in the first person when I want to write; and I feel more comfortable with works of fictions that don't really involve me and my really personal life. But from time to time, I can say that events that happened to me bleed onto the paper as I write. I think this happens to many writers.

This is it for this article. I hope that it helps new writers and experienced writers alike to see that the struggle is present, no matter how much you write /or not.
